Sawubona!
My name is Jillian but sometimes I go by Imbali, that’s my
Swazi name. It means flower and I really like it. I am from Antigonish, Nova
Scotia, Canada and I am nineteen years old.
Last year I was a First Year Missionary in South Africa and
Swaziland for nine months (Sept 08- May 09) and God broke me. It‘s a good thing
to be broken. It hurts and causes a yearning not for this world but for God’s
kingdom in this world. I spent a lot of time with broken and destitute people,
especially children, and through them I learned more about God’s character than
anything else. We serve a mighty God who wants to give us the kingdom and who
does when we seek Him out with our whole hearts. My heart is to love on people the
way Christ loves me. I fail much too often but I am growing and learning and
being stretched and strengthened. I no longer fit into the norms of North
American culture and I don’t want to. I may be in this world but I am not of
it
commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no
man than this, that a man would lay down his life for his friends. –John 15:12-13.
